Medical Specialty Aptitude Test - A Tool To Choose A Medical Specialty

Like most med students, one often wonders what medical specialty to choose. If so, the survey below if for you. It asks you about 150 questions about your personal characteristics and then ranks all the medical specialties to show you which would fit you best. Some of the questions repeat, but I think this is for control purposes. The questions are not super insightful, but some of the results might surprise you:

Choosing a medical specialty is a difficult decision. Ever wonder how much a surgery resident makes? Medicine? Pediatrics? Check out the AMA's website on resident programs FREIDA. It offers a wealth of information on different residency programs, such as location, spots, salary, and other pertinent info. For more information on choosing a medical specialty and preparing your residency application, check out Iserson's Getting Into a Residency: A Guide for Medical Students, 7th Edition:



The book does an excellent job of not only describing the various medical specialties, but also walking you through, step-by-step, on how to prepare and apply for residency positions.
